JOIN DECA AND EXPAND YOUR NETWORK

Texas Collegiate DECA is open to any college student enrolled in a college in Texas. We accept all academic majors and full-time or part-time status students – there is no GPA requirement for membership. Chapters or individual members must submit member rosters and pay dues prior to participation in state or international events. Dues are paid at the local, state ($10), and national ($10) level annually. Initial membership rosters are due by November 15; final rosters are due by February 15 to Collegiate DECA at: deca.org/membership/college

3 Ways to Join:

  1. Join a local chapter:  We have chapters at the following colleges and universities – check with a state officer to join:

  • Austin Community College

  • University of North Texas

  • University of Houston

  • Texas Tech University

  • University of Texas – Austin

  • University of Texas – Dallas

  • El Centro College

  • Tarrant County College

  • Concordia University Texas

  • Texas A & M

Establish a local chapter:  All colleges and universities are supportive of student organizations.

Steps to take:

2.

  • Reach out to your college's student organization center and learn about their processes for establishing a new organization on campus.

  • Find an advisor. Their role is to provide support, serve as the liaison to the rest of the college, mentor members, and travel to conferences with students.

  • Establish your chapter with Collegiate DECA at: decaregistration.com/collegiate/NewChapter.aspx

  • Recruit members on campus. Focus on your friends, classmates, faculty announcements, and former DECA members. Contact Kathy Walton at kwalton@austincc.edu for former DECA student contact information.

  • Collect and submit dues to Collegiate DECA.

  • Get organized – elect officers, plan activities, connect with your state officers for ideas.

  • Conduct fundraisers to help support member attendance at conferences.

  • Promote your chapter on campus. Visit the college President or Dean, and work with the college's public relations department to celebrate your results and success!

Join as an individual member: Collegiate DECA allows college students to become members,

even if there is no chapter at your college or university. Go to decaregiatration.com/collegiate/VMPreReg.aspx to join. You will be sent an invoice for dues. Your dues will need to be paid to be eligible for participation. â€‹The state officers will connect with you to keep you in the loop for state and international activities. Contact Kathy Walton at kwalton@austincc.edu for more information.
